Biography – Dr Vanessa Spiller
Dr Vanessa Spiller has been working as a clinical psychologist and therapist for over 20 years. She has a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology as well as a PhD. She is an experienced FIT (Feedback Informed Treatment) practitioner and has been measuring her clients’ progress as well as her effectiveness as a therapist for over a decade. This approach enables her to provide counselling that is flexible and responsive to client needs, including those who are not making the progress expected in therapy. Vanessa is experienced in providing therapy to adolescents and adults on issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, stress and life-adjustments using an integration of various evidence-based approaches such CBT, ACT, solution-focused therapy and others. Vanessa is particularly passionate and experienced in working with parents of neuro-atypical young people such as those with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) and ADHD using brain-based strategies and approaches. Vanessa regularly provides lectures, conference presentations and workshops on identifying and working with individuals with FASD. She is also committed to providing quality services to other members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Vanessa is the author of the “JumpStart Cards” a resource designed to assist individuals identify their unhelpful thinking habits and develop more helpful habits using evidence-based CBT and ACT strategies. Vanessa is an accredited supervisor and can provide both individual and group supervision.
